THE HEN THAT LAID GOLDEN EGGS

 

Hen and golden eggs

 













Once a man had a big hen. It was a strange hen. It laid a golden egg daily. The man was very happy. He sold the gold and got money. He was becoming rich day by day. He began to dream of becoming a millionaire .
 He became greedy. He became impatient. He wanted to become rich at once. He thought of a plan to get all the golden eggs at once. So one day he killed the hen so that he might get all gold. He opened the stomach of the hen and looked for the eggs. But he was shocked to see that there was only one incomplete egg.
 Now he realized his folly and repented. But it is no use crying over splitting milk. 
Moral:
Haste makes waste 
 Greed is curse
It is no use crying over splitting milk. 

THE FOX AND THE GOAT

A fox was once running after a rabbit. There was a well near by. The well was covered with long grass. The fox fell into it. He was thinking some means of escape. When a goat came near the well grazing grass. He peeped into the well and was surprised to see a fox there. 
He asked the fox, "Uncle, what are you doing here?" The fox replied, "Dear nephew, the water is so sweet here that I cannot help coming here twice a day. If you taste it, I am sure, you will enjoy it very much. So come down and have a drink." The goat was already feeling thirsty. 
He did not stop to think over the matter but jumped.Clever fox came out the well by jumping over the goat. Then Goat  requested the fox to help him out. But he only laughed and said, "Go on enjoying the sweet water of this well and bleat, till your master comes here and helps you out." So saying he ran away. Then the goat realized his folly. 
 Moral: 
 Look before you leap. 
Haste makes waste. 

Lion and mouse

Once a lion was sleeping under the shade of a tree. A mouse lived nearby. It came out of its hole and climbed over lion’s body. It began to jump and disturbed him in his sleep. He woke up and caught the mouse in his paw. 
He was in fury and was going to crush it when the mouse begged for mercy and said, "I may be of some help to you some day." The lion was amused and let it go saying, "What a little creature like you can help me." A few days later, the lion was caught in a strong net spread by a hunter. 
In spite of all his efforts, he could not free himself. He began to roar helplessly. The same mouse heard his roars and came to know that he was in trouble. It ran at once and reched the spot. Losing no time it started gnawing the ropes of the net. 
Before long the lion was free. He came out of the net and thanked the mouse. Now the lion realized that sometimes even a little can be of great help. Moral A noble deed never goes unrewarded
