We like the soil where we are bom. We like it because it feeds our bodies, illuminates our minds and saves our souls. Here we live among our- near and dear ones, who share our pains and pleasures. We feel a sense of security, closeness and companionship. Everything that it possesses belongs to us. Its beautiful valleys, high mountains, surging rivers and its values, customs and traditions all are dear to us.</span></p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.25in;"><span style="font-size: medium;">But my love for my country is not only because of these earthly and material things. I do love the scenic beauty of my country. But outer beauty is just superficial. It can attract permanently only when it has also some great ideal hidden in it. My country has this ideal which calls the ideology of Pakistan. And my love for my country is due to my love for its ideology.</span></p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.25in;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Ideology is a set of ideas, beliefs and doctrines that the people of a country want to follow in every field of life. As ours is a Muslim country, our ideology can be nothing but Islam. The Pakistan Movement was started in the name of Islam. Before the partition, the Muslims of the Sub-continent were leading a miserable life in India.</span></p><span style="font-size: medium;">English  were the  rulers while the Hindus were their social and economical rulers., They have been beer' living  with  Hindus for many centimes . had nothing common between them. Some are held to celebrate the memory of some saints; others 1 are associated with the seasons. <br />I remember going to a fair when I was a boy of fourteen. I still have clear memories of that glorious time. It was held at a place half-way between our village and the nearby town. <br />One morning, my friends and I left our homes and took the road to the fair. We were still at a distance when we heard the beat of drums and the chime of bells. We quickened our pace and in a short time reached the fair-ground. What a sight it was! We found ourselves in a big crowd of people all in their best colourful clothes. They were in high spirits. They laughed and shouted, sang and danced. None was standing still; all were moving as if they wanted to see everything in the fair as quickly as possible. The sweet-meat-sellers’ stall attracted a large group of people. They were shouting their voices. As soon as they got what they wanted, they were on the move again. <br />The children crowded around a toy-seller who sat on the ground with his toys spiral before him. He was announcing the names of the toys and their prices in a sing-song voice. A little further there was a merry-go-rounds. The happy excited cries of the children filled the air. Nearby a juggler was showing his ■ tricks while we stood there, we heard a loud shout, “Come on, Come and see. The wonder of wonders half man-half monster come and see. We turned round and saw the announcer standing before a tent. We went in and saw the “wonder of wonders". In the evening, there were games like kabaddi, wrestling, and races. As the contestants matched their skill and strength in the arena, their supporters shouted and encouraged them when the games ended. The Chairman of the District Council gave away the prizes. It was almost night when we returned home.We were dead tired and dusty ,but we wew happy .</span><p> </p>

Particularly Pakistan, India, America and Afghanistan are its targets. Thousands of men, women and children have been killed by the terrorists in different countries and still this satanic activity is going on. In our dear country the greatest loss has been done by the terrorists. It seems that the terrorists are bent upon finishing this Islamic country. Bomb blasts, suicide attacks and firing by the terrorist is an every day matter. Though the morale of the Pakistanis is very high and the government of Pakistan is taking different measures to stop it, yet there are feelings of lack of safety and dissatisfaction among the people <br />If we probe deep into the matter there are different causes of terrorism. Firstly, there are some injustice, inequality or favoritism by some government or ruling party. The annoyed try to get their rights through this unlawful device. Such movements often achieve the favours of the masses though the weapon of terrorism, which is not fair according to any code of conduct. <br />Secondly, some political powers when fail to get the upper hand by fair means pick up this unfair and immoral weapon and try to create panic and disaster in their desired areas. They also have the support of some of their staunch supporters. <br />Thirdly, the religious extremists who are often unable to bear any opinion opposite to their’s, Hence, there is no legal way to block the way of their opponents. So, they take extreme steps and cause a great loss to humanity, <br />Now the question is that how to check terrorism. In this connection, the following steps and suggestions are hereby submitted: <br />All the nations, countries, ' governments and ruling authorities should not go astray from the path of justice, morality and humanity and should not give chance to any person or party to take the path of rebellion and separation. <br />Political parties and political minded persons should keep in mind that the power attained by unfair means and cruelty shall one day take themselves to task and they will meet a horrible end one day such as most of the small and big terrorists have met. <br />Democracy is the best form of running the affairs of a country and it insists on patience, justice and forbearance. <br />Thirdly, religious scholars, Ulema, poets and the writers must tell the people openly that every religion preaches to be moderate, broadminded, patient and respectful to the creeds and religions of others. The teachers can do a lot in this respect and anti terrorism * material in the educational syllabus can show fruitful results also. <br />Fourthly and lastly, every government must keep a strict eye on terrorists and with the help of its law enforcing * departments and even army tries to keep the law and order throughout the country. The department of justice must not spare any terrorist who is caught red-handed and the public should cooperate with all these agencies. <br />In short, terrorism is a curse of this age which would at last come to an end but its horrible memories will haunt forever on the pages of history. The result is that the shopkeepers indulge in encroachment. They cross their limits and virtually the wide road becomes too narrow for the traffic to pass easily. A grey bear was moving to and fro in the cage. Just then, we heard the roar of a lion. It was in a big and high cage. The lion was moving restlessly. There were also tigers and leopards nearby.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Then, we went to the other side, we saw monkeys and baboons. They were jumping and dancing. Some of the people gave them parched grams. They accepted them delightly. Next to them, there were stags, rabbits and deer. All looked at them with surprise. We moved to other side to have a look at the birds. There were birds of every kind.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"> We saw pigeons, parrots and sparrows. They chirped and flew about. They were very beautiful to look at. Not far from us there stood a black elephant. He was eating grass lying before him. <br />Then, we went further. In a pond nearby’ we saw ducks and cranes. In a small pool of clear water, we saw red silver fish. Otter, in another tank, amused us. Men were throwing coins into the tank and the otter was bringing them out. <br />It was now late in the evening. We heard a bell. It was  time for us to leave the zoo. If our students are provided proper guideline in the beginning, they can opt for such subjects as have validity in the market. We simply run blindly in one direction. When it gets saturated, we turn our direction. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Political instability and the inefficiency of our planners are the other reasons for this large-scale unemployment. Our political leaders wish to oblige the voters of their area. They try to give all the opportunities to their own people. They do not observe the policy of merit. The outcome is dissatisfaction of the deserving poor people. <br />Whatever the reasons are, this problem must be solved at the earliest There are many families which depend on the job of a single person. If that person remains unemployed, the whole family remains disturbed. For this purpose, the private sector can be motivated. If government gives certain relaxation to this sector, in return it can ask for providing jobs to a certain number of the jobless young men. <br />Unemployment is a great curse. Religious freedom violations, as well as- violence and discrimination against religious minorities continued. Child abuse and exploitive child labour were - problems. Widespread human trafficking, including exploitation of bonded laborers by landowners; forced child labour, and commercial sexual exploitation of children remained problems, as did lack of respect for worker rights. <br />Some killings of individuals accused of crimes allegedly resulted from extreme physical abuse while in official custody. <br />During the year, the non-governmental organization (NGO) Society for Human Rights and Prisoners’ Aid (SHARP) reported 72 civilian deaths after encounters with police and 168 deaths in jails, an increase from the previous year. The police * stated that these deaths occurred when suspects attempted to escape, resisted arrest, or committed suicide. Human rights observers, family members, and the media reported that security forces staged many of the deaths. Lengthy trial delays and failures to discipline and consistently prosecute those responsible for abuses contributed to a culture of impunity. <br />Mob violence remained a problem. But I like most Syed Abdullah Shah Qadri (1680-1757) popularly known as Bulleh Shah, who was a Mughal-era Punjabi Muslim sufi poet, a humanist and philosopher. His first spiritual teacher was Shah Inaybt Qadri, a sufi murshid of Lahore. Bulleh Shah gathered spiritual treasures under the guidance , of his murshid and was known for the karamat (miraculous powers) he had. <br />Bulleh Shah is believed to have been born in 1680, in the small village of Uch, Bahawalpur, Punjab, in Pakistan. His ancestors had migrated from Bukhara in modern Uzbekistan. When he was Six months old, his parents relocated to Malakwal. There his father, Shah Muhammad Darwaish, was a preacher in the village mosque and a teacher. His father later got a job in Pandoke, about 50 miles southeast of Kasur. Bulleh Shah received his early schooling in Pandoke, and moved to Kasur for higher education. He also, received education from <br />Maulana Mohiyuddin. His spiritual teacher was the eminent sufi saint, Shah Inayat Qadri. <br />A large amount of what is known about Bulleh Shah comes through legends, and is subjective; to the point that there isn't even agreement among historians concerning his precise date and place of birth. Some "facts” about his life have been pieced together from his own writings. Other “facts" seem to have been passed down through oral traditions. Bulleh Shah practised the sufi tradition of Punjabi poetry established by poets like Shari Hussain, Sultan Bahu, and Shah Sharaf. Bulleh Shah lived in the same period as the famous Sindhi sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai. His life-span also overlapped . with the legendary Punjabi poet Waris Shah, of Heer Ranjha fame, and the famous Sindhi sufi poet Abdul Wahad, better known by his pen-name, Sacha! Sarmast. <br />His verse form Bulleh Shah primarily employed is the kafi, popular in Punjabi (Saraiki) and Sindhi poetry. Bulleh Shah's writings represent him as a humanist, someone providing solutions io the sociological problems of the world around him as he lives through it, describing the turbulence his motherland of Punjab is passing through, while concurrently searching for God. His poetry highlights his mystical spiritual voyage through the four stages of sufism: Shariat (Path), Tariqat (Observance), Haqiqat (Truth) and Ma’arfat (Union). The simplicity with which Bulleh Shah has been able to address the complex fundamental issues of life and humanity is a large part of his appeal. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">The verse form Bulleh Shah primarily employed is called the kafi, a style of Punjabi, Sindhi and Siraiki poetry used not only by the sufis of Sindh and Punjab, but also by Sikh gurus. Bulleh Shah’s poetry and philosophy, strongly criticizes Islamic religious orthodoxy of his day. <br />Bulleh Shah’s time was marked with communal strife between Muslims and Sikhs. But in that age, Baba Bulleh Shah was a beacon of hope and peace for the citizens of Punjab. While Bulleh Shah was in Pandoke, Muslims killed a young Sikh man who was riding through their village in retaliation for murder of some Muslims by Sikhs. Baba Bulleh Shah denounced the murder of an innocent Sikh and was censured by the Mullas and Muftis of Pandoke. Bulleh Shah maintained  that violence which was not the answer to violence. Bulleh Shah also hailed Guru Tegh Bahadur as a ghazi and incurred the wrath of the fanatic Muslims at the time. Banda Singh Bairagi was a contemporary of Bulleh Shah. In retaliation for the murder of Guru Gobind Sinigh’s two sons by Aurangzeb, he sought revenge by killing common Muslims. Baba Bulleh Shah tried to convince Banda Singh Bairagi to renounce his campaign of revenge. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Bulleh Shah told him that the same sword which fell upon Guru Gobind Singh's sons and innocent Sikhs also fell upon innocent Muslims. Hence killing innocent Muslims was not the answer to Aurangzeb's reign of oppression. <br />Bulleh Shah’s writings represent him as a humanist someone providing solutions to the sociological problems of the world around him as he lives through it, describing the turbulence his motherland of Punjab is passing through, while concurrently searching for God. Thus, many people have put his kafis to music, from humble street-singers to renowned sufi singers. Bulleh Shah's popularity stretches uniformly across Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims, to the point that much of the written material about this philosopher is from Hindu and Sikh authors. <br />Bulleh Shah was an evolved soul, a perfect faqir and a true lover. Through the love for his Master, he realized the Lord. In his love, one finds sincerity, sacrifice and renunciation. His writings, as also his life, manifest transcendence of physical love to divine love. Indeed, this is the path of all true mystics, all true lovers of God. </span></p>

The public reposes confidence in the Government, due to its result-oriented policies, saved the country from economic collapse. It is true that the poor have not yet received the benefits of his policies and has promised that the masses will benefit financially in the near future. <br />Poverty alleviation is the government’s top priority. Fortunately, it has found time to address the core issue of rejonning judiciary, which needs a major surgery and blood transfusion to make it operational and more efficient. <br />Our judicial system, by and large, is based on laws prevalent during the imperialist days but modified to an extend under the Pakistan Penal Code to give them better cosmetic look. The system has failed to deliver, as it should have. For a poor man at the grass-root level a litigant goes in and out of court in the hope of getting quick justice. The common man <br />feels that as compared to a rich and Influential person he stands no chance to get a fair deal. <br />Justice is costly both In terms of lawyer fees end the court fees Imagine for a claim of rupees one lakh you have to cough out rupees 7,000 as court fee Can a poor man afford it, including the lawyer fee? <br />When we talk of revamping streamlining the system, we have to address the areas In which the system is bogged down due to practices that have impeded the flow of justice unhindered. The lawyers' community may be one party to consult but the major affectees are the litigants whose difficulties need to be assessed if any relief is to be given The consensus amongst the litigants at present is that they commit a blunder of knocking at the doors of justice.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;"> Leave aside the delay in the finalisation of their cases, perpetual slogging m and out of the courtrooms with no list in sight at the other end of the tunnel makes them dejected and firings along a psychological pressure, which is nerve-wrecking. What then are the litigants <br />facing the problems? <br />On daily basis, a judge has to deal with 50 to 55 oases. He has eight duty hours-and with lunch and tea break he is left with seven working hours a day. For 50 cases, he can accord eight minutes per case if he works persistently, His reader selects 10 to 15 cases for detailed hearing on that day. The litigants left over are given another day which may extend to two months’ period. Now it is routine and seventy percent of the litigants move out of the courtroom dejected perhaps cursing the system.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">A reasonable number of cases are assigned to tire judge so that he deals with the cases fairly. There is no value of the time of a litigant. He reports at 8 am and awaits a cal to go in. No one is bothered. <br />To get a case, adjourned is simple, Gough out some money to the reader and you get the adjournment for a period of your choice. Simple as that! Then there is the adjournment sought by the lawyer. This may be on flimsy grounds like absence of a witness, non-availability of a document, Anything that would impress the judge to give adjournment, there should be strict law that must be enforced. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">A judge must reprimand a habitual lawyer who seeks adjournments. Very rare is a lawyer reprimanded In this aspect. <br />The standard of police investigations is well-known to everyone. Investigation cells have been created and this responsibility has been segregated from normal police duties. An ASI or a §ub-lnspector can hardly read an application in English. Investigation is an art that has to be learnt. The Police believe in third degree methods. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">These are outdated and the Police blow its trumpet by getting forced confessions. The judges during trial can foresee faulty investigations and per­force they are compelled to let go a criminal due to lack of evidence. There should be an appropriate law to give desecration to the judges to punish if their conscience is satisfied that a concerned person has committed a crime. The police officials must undergo special investigation courses arranged by the, Ministry of Interior with Scotland Yard or the FBI. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">A close cooperation with these set-ups will polish investigation techniques in vogue with our police force. Some Of high-ranking officials Of the level of ASP or SPs are detailed to attend such courses abroad.The judge when inducted in service attends a basic course to familiarise him with judicial procedures at Islamabad- Lahore Academy, Thereafter ng specialised training is imparted to him in his subsequent service to upgrade his professional skills. <br />The existing courtrooms give, a gloomy picture of environment within and around the court premises.. There are no adequate seating arrangements within the room. As a result, the litigants squat outside the courtroom sitting on the floor. <br /></span></p>

These attractions are appreciated by town’s people more than by country people. <br />Villagers in the Punjab are all alike ‘and so is the life in them. The village rchopal’ is the meeting place where elderly people meet in the evening to have an interesting conversation about the local problems. Sometimes when the schoolmaster is present, this conversation takes a political turn. They talk about things happening in big cities like Lahore or Karachi. Young men have other things to interest them. They talk either about their quarrels or their love affairs. <br />The life in a Punjabi village is centred round the big zamindar. He passes most of his time either in talking, or in settling the village disputes. Rest of the population mainly <br />consists of cultivators. The life of a cultivator la In no way pleasant. He works from morning till evening. He gets up early in the morning, eats a simple breakfast and then goes to his Fields with his team of bullocks. When he Is busy In tilling the soil or reaping the harvest, his wife Is busy with her cooking, washing, sewing and quarrelling at home. The children play about in the streets or go to the village school to run errands for the schoolmaster. <br />When the sun sets, he returns home. He takes his supper and then settles down to smoke his hookah; the only means of refreshment in a village. Besides the cultivator, every village has a blacksmith, b carpenter, a potter, a barber, a weaver, an oilman, a grocer, a mason, a physician and sometimes a very qualified schoolmaster. Fairs are an interesting feature of the village life in the Punjab. These fairs are generally held either at the tomb of a saint or after the harvest time, The villagers put on . their colourful garments and take a day off from their busy life. They dance, sing and hold wrestling matches, and “fleet the time as carelessly as they did in the Golden Age." <br />Village life has many attractions. Articles of daily use like butter, milk, eggs, vegetables are cheap. People are simple and sympathetic. They will lend you a helping hand for the mere asking. They will share your sorrows as readily as they share your joys. The life in a village is comparatively quiet. There are no disagreeable sights, smells and sounds. which are so common in big cities. <br />This is only one side of the picture. Village life has its drawbacks too. The people are ignorant, superstitious and fdnd of litigation. They enjoy very few facilities of modern life. There are no schools and hospitals, no theatres or gardens. The cultivator lives a life of woeful poverty. His house is like a stable; the children are ill-fed and uneducated. <br />Now, when we have become free, we should do something to improve the conditions of the people living in villages. In fact, these people are the backbone of our economic life. With a little attention towards sanitation and education, Villages can become the pride of Pakistan.
