The King and the SpiderTHE KING AND THE SPIDER This story teaches us another lesson of preserverance and steadfastness.It urges us to be constant in our doinggs.we should make daring moves.We should stick to our particular stance .Shakespear says in"The taming of the shrew': "- as mountains are for winds ,that shakes not,though they blow perpetually."Robert Bruce was a valant king of scotland.He fought many battels to liberate his country from the despotic dictatorship and brutality of te English.Nevertheless,he could never succeed in his efforts.Once he made the full preparations for war.He wanted to fight a decisive battle.He was extermely confident of his victory.He fought courageously and fearlessly but to no avail.He was defeated so badly that he had to run away from the battlefield to save his life.He hid in a cave and began to ponder over his faults that had brought about his defeat despite the full -fledged preparations.He was so frustrated and grieved at his defeat that he decided to abandon his struggle for freedom .Preoccupied  with his thoughts ,he lay down in the cave.Eventually he caught sight of a spider that was ascending the wall to reach its cobweb.The spider tried many times to reach its destination but could not.Every time it fell down ,it tried with new determination .It failed nine times but did not get hopeless.The king thought that the spider would never try again to get at the web.However ,to his surprise ,he saw the spider climbing again .This time ,It succeeded in reaching its cobweb.This inspired the king so much that he got a new enthusiasm to resume his struggle.He gathered his army again and fought fiercely with anunusual spirit of victory.Ultimately ,he defeated his enemy and won freedom for his country.Possible morals1-Try try again2-Despair is a sin3-Failure leads to success.

Once the parents of Abdul Qadir Gilani decided to send him to Baghdad for learning.At the time of his departure .his mother gave him forty gold coins . She advised him to speak the truth always.With a Carvan ,he started ,he started his journey to Baghdad.On the way a gang of robbers attacked the carvans and robbed the passengers of their possessions .One of the dacoits came to Abdul Qadir and asked him what he owned. Abdul Qadir where those coins were.Abdul Qadir said that they were sewn in his clothes.The robber was impressed with his truthfulness.He tok Abdul Qadir to his leader and told him the whole incident.The leader asked Abdul Qadir why he had not saved his money by telling a lie.Abdul Qadir said that his mother had advised him to speak the truth always.Therefore,he had acted upon his mother's advice.This reply of Abdul Qadir moved the leader to tears .He returend the looted luggage to the Passengers,and gave up the evil deeds forever. It was a blazing day of summer.The scrotching heat and the burning rays of sun had dried up all the pools and ponds all around.Life was crippled thoroughly.A crow felt extemely thirsity.He flew away in search of water to quench his raging thirst. Though he flew away far and wide to find water,he could find no water anywhere.The in tolerable thirst had parched his throught utterly .He feared that he would perish soon if he could not find water..Therefore ,he did not cease his quest.After a long search ,he arrived at a garden.To his good luck.there he saw a pitcher placed near a cottage.He felt indescribably happy.He sat at the mouth of the pitcher to satiate his thirst.But to his grief,the pitcher contained so little water that he could not possibly get at it. Soft Summer breez began to charm him. Suddenly ,it flashed through his mind why he should not have a rest for a short time He was sure that the tortoise would be lagging far behind. Supposing this ,he lay down in the velvety cradle of meadow grass under a shady tree. The tender strokes of cool breeze rocked his tried body .Soon he went off to sleep in the arms of Morpheus. On the other hand ,the tortoise was extremely exhausted but he continued to go on ward with steady step. He reached the place where the harewas enjoying profoundly.sound sleep. He quitely passed by the sleeping hare and went his way with new fervour .Ultimately his perseververance brought him the sweat fruit of victory . When the hare woke up ,the sun was kissing the horizon .Emberrassed by the idea of losing race,he ran as fast as he could but to no avail.He reached the winning point byt was enormously ashamed to find the tortoise there.The tortioise said 'Didn't' he cried'I tell you true. It persuades us to faster love, compassion , kindness and sympathy. kindness is the essence of all religions of the  world. The Holy Ourran says: " Shall the recompense of goodness be other than goodness?" Mark Twain, an American writer says: "Kindness is a language which the dumb can speak the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Thus we should be merciful ( and kind to all the creatures of ALLAH. In ancient times the rich were entitled to enslave the poor, A merciless master had many slaves. Androcles was one of them. The master was a sadist.He tormented slaves just for fun and joy . Although Androcles always did his work diligently ,his master was never satisfied with his work. The master often got furious at his work and tortured him severely. One day, the poor slave managed to run away from the tyranny of his master. He took refuge in an isolated cave in a wilderness, There, one day, he happened to come across a fierce lion. The lion had a luxuriant mane and huge flashing eyes. The slave was extremely frightened and was about to run away to save his life but then he observed that the lion was limping and moaning with pain. He also observed that one of his paws was badly swollen. He saw that a big thorn had pierced it. As he was a kind-hearted person, he decided to relieve the wretched lion of his plight. He observed the lion’s movement for a while. Finally, he took fine risk. He mustered up courage, went near the lion vigilantly and extracted the thorn from his paw, The Lion heaved a sigh of relief and cast a look of gratitude at him. After a long time, the soldiers of the master captured the slave and brought him before the ruthless  master. The master decided to cast the unfortunate slave before a hungry lion as a warning for the other slaves. On the fixed day, the slave was thrown into an amphitheatre . The gate of a heavy cage was opened and a fierce lion vaulted out. The lion came bouncing across the field. He approached the slave and recognized him as the man who had helped him in his distress. Instead of attacking him, the lion began to lick the slave's feet. As soon as the master heard the incident of the slave's kind heartedness and bravery, he was moved to tears. He ordered the lion to be set free again in the test, and the slave to be pardoned and freed. Possible Morals: (1) Do good and bait good. (2) Virtue never goes waste/unrewarded. (3) One good turn deserves another.

If you care AT ALL about American history, you need to read this book. It is beyond interesting. The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud. Maybe you’re one of those people who read The Stranger by Camus, in either English or French, in school. If so, this definitely qualifies as an interesting book. Camus told that story from the POV of the white, French character living in Algeria — someone just like him, and like the murderer. This author tells a different story. He’s writing after the fact, about both Camus and about a murder by a white, French character of an Algerian Arab — his brother. It’s turning the story on its head. It's a response  Being
Mortal by Atul Gawande. Like it or not, we’re all going to die. Gawande forces
the reader to confront that, gently, and to think about what that really means,
and to contemplate what a “good death” might be. Maybe if you're in your 20s,
you're not ready for this, but by the time you’re 35 or so, your parents are
aging, and you probably should read this. It's uncomfortable, but it's
definitely one of the most fascinating, disconcerting books I’ve ever read.

Fahrenheit 451 and The Handmaid's Tale: by Orwell, Bradbury and Atwood,
respectively. Each of these are dystopian; each forces you to ponder some
important questions about values. What is the nature of reality and what bonds
will we never betray? What is truth? What are our fundamental rights? All three
novels engage with these questions. Oh, and they are gripping and suspenseful.

fiction, and this won the Walter Scott Prize as best historical novel the year
it was publish. But it’s no bodice ripper. It’s the story of a French military
officer, an ambitious man who is promoted the year that Alfred Dreyfus is
banished to Devil’s Island for selling France's military secrets to the
Germans. But the novel’s hero, assigned to run a secret espionage department,
soon finds that there may be another spy at work — and that Dreyfus may not be
guilty.
