A Rainy Day in Winter

It was the month of December last year. It was very cold and dusty. The morning was very misty so nothing was visible. All of a sudden a small piece of cloud appeared in the sky. Soon the whole sky was covered with thick dark clouds. A cold and biting wind began to blow. It looked like night . All went indoors.
Before long the wind blew strongly. There were flashes of lightnings and loud roars of thunder .At first it began to drizzle and then came down big drops.
There was a death--like silence in the streets. Only the pattering of the rain was audible It became very cold now. There were no sings, of life in the city. All the roads and streets looked deserted. Not a single person could be seen walking there .
Pedestrians sought shelter while cars, buses and other vehicles were parked aside. Everybody began to shiver with cold. The rain stopped after an hour. The streets were still filled with water. Water subsided after half an hour. But the roads had become muddy and slippery. The streets were full of mud and wire.
Trees and the plants looked fresh. The crops became greener. Many people retired to their house due to intense cold. The rich began to cook roasted meat and delicious food. Some took tea with eggs and dry fruit. Poor people were shivering with cold. They could not afford to put on warm clothes.
Cofee-houses and tea stalls presented lively scenes. Groups of people were seen assembled round the fire to keep themselves warm. Some were indulged (tin pleasant talk while others were doing full justice to the tea and sweets.
After two hours, the clouds disappeared and the sun came out providing relief for the poor. Some houses collapsed due to heavy down pour.Crops were also damaged. All the school remained closed in the town that day. The rain increase cold but it proved very useful for wheat crop.
