 The story of Abraham Lincoln is written jointly by R.K. and M.I.R. Polkinghome. They are new authors and their biographical details are not available. 

 Abrahan Lincoln 

This biographical sketch of Abraham Lincoln is taken from the author’s Tales" the years Tell". They have based this and others stories in the volumes on old manuscripts and records written at the time the events happened. Their records contain the authentic words, thoughts and deeds of the people of the past. The style of the story is simple and natural. 
The writers let the story tell itself and thus grip the readers. The idea of presenting the young readers with such stories is to acquaint them with the life story of great people as well as to enable their imagination to work on the visualising of their greatness in a manner which is not only intellectual but also emotional. Lincoln was a great patriot . 
He belonged to a poor family, but by dint of hard work he rose to be the President of the Untied States of America. In this story, we are introduced to the character and personality of this great man. He was a unique man in many respects. Although he had little formal education, yet he proved his genius in many fields. He had a great sense of  humour and became one of his country’s greatest orators .
He was against slavery. Abraham Lincoln was born in a little cottage in the state of Kentucky, on February 12, 1809. His parents were very poor. He was called Abe by them. Abe and his sister helped their parents in all sorts of domestic work. His father Thomas Lincoln was of a roving disposition. His farm in Kentucky was not successful, so he decided to try his luck in the new state of Indiana. 
 So they went to the new place after covering about hundred miles. The first thing they did when they reached the place was to build some sort of shelter. The house they built had walls on three sides only. So fire had to be burnt to keep the wild animals away. Lincoln’s father was uneducated. He had no use for reading and writing. 
Therefore Lincoln could not have any formal education. As soon as he was eight, his father taught him how to use a gun. He was much delighted when he killed a turkey with his gun. One of the pleasures of his early days was hearing the Bible when his mother read it aloud. This was Abe’s first story-book, and, indeed, reading book. Today he is mainly remembered for having upheld the basic rights of personal liberty and freedom for all.

A few days after the war in April 1865, Lincoln was shot dead by a mad man at a Washington theatre. Some one who was with him said "he belongs to the ages." He was a unique man in many respects. He was a great patriot and a great orator. He had keen sense of humour and had a great degree of patience and determination.
