Question no 4: In Unit 2, Page 25, you have read ‘Talking about health’. Now read and listen to the recorded text 3. In this dialogue two friends Fahad and Tahir are discussing health related issues. Listen and read this conversation carefully and answer the following questions.

i.    What is wrong with Tahir?

ii.     What does the doctor think about Tahir’s health condition?

iii.     Why does Tahir feel depressed and tense?

iv.     According to Fahad, what are the reasons for Tahir’s problems?

v.      Which suggestions does Fahad give to Tahir?

What is wrong with tahir?

Tahir feels tired, his body aches and he can’t eat properly. He has lost a lot of weight.

What does the doctor think about tahir’s heath condition?

The doctor thinks that tahir is tense.

Why does tahir feel depressed and tense?

Tahir feels depressed and tense due to overwork. His work schedule involves a lot of mental work, tensions, pressures and so much of travelling.

What does fahad think are the reasons for tahir’s problems?

Fahad thinks that perhaps something is bothering tahir. Moreover, he is worried of something and under some stress.

What suggestions does fahad given to tahir?

Fahad suggests that tahir should take time off from work, change his eating habits and include a lot of fresh fruits, juices, milk and green vegetables in his diet. He should also take walks regularly, take enough rest, read good books, listen to music, just relax and enjoy and forget about everything.

Question no 5: Look at the pictures given below. Which suggestions will you give to the following people who suffer from these problems? Read Unit 2, Page 28 for guideline and write appropriate expressions given suggestions.

Question no 6: Read the explanation about: Environment: given in the beginning of Unit 3, Pages 43 to 46 and answer the following questions in detail.

i.          What is meant by the term ‘Environment’.

ii.          What is ‘Pollution’ and what causes pollution?

iii.           What are the different kinds of pollution?

iv.          What is ‘sewerage’?

v.           What is ‘Overpopulation’?

What is meant by the term environment?

Environment means the space or atmosphere around us.

What is pollution and what causes pollution?

Pollution means an undesirable change in the environment. Over population, industrial waste, smoke, transport, plastic bags etc, cause pollution.

What are the different kinds of pollution?

There are many kinds of pollution such as rubbish, dirty water, smoke, loud noise etc.

What is sewerage?

Sewerage is the dirty waste that is carried away from houses and buildings outside the city limits through underground pipes.

What is over population?

Over population means too many people living in a small place.

Question no 7: Read Unit 3, which is about ‘Cause and Effect’. Write the suitable effects for the following causes. Follow the example:

1.  The chemical thinks that it is bad for people’s health because it is poisonous.

2.  It makes people sick with many diseases.

3.  It advises the people to boil the canal water before they drink it.

4.  It advises the government to close down the factory and purify the canal water.

Question no 9: Listen to the recorded text no 8, on Page 56. This is a beautiful poem, in which the earth is talking to you. Now read the poem and write earth’s complaints and its requests. (10)
