Answer (in 3-5 lines I sentences) the following any SIX questions from Book-I (Short Stories): 12 <h4 style="text-align: left;">(i) What is the significance of Arthur’s life insurance policy? </h4>Ans:  Arthur had a life insurance policy for $25,000 with double indemnity in case of accidental death. It is quite significant, because the same money was promised by Mr. Steward as reward. <h4 style="text-align: left;">(ii) What was the condition of the Bittering family on hearing the news of the war on the earth? </h4>Ans:  When the Bittering family heard the news of war on earth, they were much worried. They knew that no rocket would now come to rescue them. They would have to live in the Mars forever. Laura started weeping and crying. Her mother clung to her husband in fear. Harry was himself much worried but he tried to console others by saying that they would continue doing their work till the war ended and some rocket would come to help them. <h4 style="text-align: left;">(iii) How did Gorgios persuade his people to make his country strong? </h4> He suggested that the acrobat at the court was necessary to make the country strong. The poet feels pity for poor neglected women who work in a miserable conditions to earn their bread. If such beautiful attractive women were born in a rich family, they would have been praised by everyone.  poet of "The Feed" expresses the love of mother for the young ones. 
Mother may be human, bird, mammal or insect, but it has only one name: 
mother. This reminds us of our own childhood days. The mother renders 
every sacrifice to feed us, to nurse us, and to, educate us. We know and
 feel this even more when we are departed of her love and.grace. No 
wonder, she is an earthly paradise. (iv) What has made the efforts of Muslims fruitless? He became sad and thought, “What a pair of ugly legs I have!” He was absorbed in these thoughts when he heard voices of the barking hounds. To save his life, he sprang up and very soon he was at a safe distance. He consoled himself by. saying, “Now I am safe in these thick bushes, the hounds will never find me." It was raining heavily with thundering and lightning. (iii) What is the purpose of Kreton’s visit? Ans: The purpose of Kreton’s visit to the Earth is merely a pleasure trip. He is also interested in the study of the civilization of man. He claims that he has come to take the charge of the whole world. (iv) What type of life do you foresee in the year  5000? .  In the year 5000, it is likely that man will have learnt to live and 
let live. He by that time will have overcome the forces of the outer 
space. (v) How damaging is violence in life? Write five sentences. Violence is very dangerous for human race. It disturbs the peace of 
society. When young people do not get proper placement in the society, 
they create violence. It creates a sense of insecurity among the masses.
 The flow of business stops and the country suffers. (vi) What kind of a gadget does the writer describe? The writer describes the gadget that is like a safety razor with which anybody can give anybody else a haircut. (vii)

They are no more real men. They are like robots. They worship money, power and status. For these reasons, they are hollow men and women. (iii) What does the horror say about the spot on the hearer’s skin? The horror frightens the hearer. He makes him aware of supernatural happenings. The horror tells.the hearer to take notice of a tiny pimple oh his body. This may be a malignant stuff which may just be a symptom of a fatal disease. (iv) “One grain to be fed to the ten young ones”. What does the line mean? The little sparrows are waiting for their mothel eager to be fed. The mother sparrow picks up grain of food in her beak and comes flying towards the young ones. She decides in a moment whom to make feel  comfortable by putting the grain in her beak. She tries to break the tiny grain and at last she succeeds. She is able to break the grain into ten pieces; Thus she is able to feed all of them at a time. (v) What do you feel after reading the poem “The Feed”? The poet of “The Feed” expresses the love of mother for the young ones. Mother may be human, bird, mammal or insect, but it has only one name: mother. This reminds us of our own childhood days. The mother rendered every sacrifice to feed us, to nurse us, and to educate us. We know and feel this even more when we are departed of her love and grace. No wonder, she is an earthly paradise. (vi) What is meant by “A Man of Words and Not of Deeds”? The poem “A Man of Words and Not of Deeds” describes the person who is fond of talking and.does little work. He keeps on boasting and making tall claims about himself. Such a person is like a wild plant. It is still destined to play a pivotal role in the development of three-fourth of mankind; the great majority of which is barely subsisting the people who have been stamped with misery and their future is bleaked with despair. One of the important indicators of their underdevelopment is the highly inequitable distribution 6f energy use. Energy is that ability by which non-living bodies work like living bodies. So in any sector, whether it is domestic, industrial or agricultural, the economic prosperity demands a strong infrastructure and energy is the most: vital ingredient of this infrastructure. Pakistan is a developing country and is, in fact, on the lower rank of the development ladder with a literacy rate of 58 percent, an average life expectancy of 61 years and per capita income a little over 1190- U.S Dollars J A large majority of population is- without access to safe drinking water. The major cause of its backwardness is that it has not enough energy resources to meet its energy demand. Pakistan’s low level of developmental and industrialization is in large part due to this low level of energy resources. So large energy import dependence^ is due to its poor energy resources base. The energy, demand is growing but the sources are inadequate for future development and growth. These are the problems and challenges, which have to be met in future. Every year, the demand is increasing at the rate of 13 percent and production is increasing at the rate of only 7 percent. At present, WAPDA is producing electricity from' hydel and thermal units with the ratio of 48.50 percent and 52.50 percent, respectively. Any energy crisis is a great hurdle in the supply of energy resources to an economy. The energy crisis is caused by various factors, first of all; the gap between supply and demand is the biggest obstacle. Currently 22,000 megawatts of electricity is being produced which is nearly only 87% of the nation’s demand. despair.  from Book-Hi (Poems): 8 (i) How does the poet feel when he hears the rain falling on the leaves? The
 poet sees the leaves of the trees as living [beings. When he hears the 
rain falling on the leaves, the poet sees fresher and greener leaves as 
they are saturated with water. The poet feels that the water on the 
leaves falls down [drop by drop which creates musical sound. |(ii)
 Why has the poet used “Cannon balls” to describe the fruits? Ans:  The 
shape of the fruits mentioned in the poem is closer to that of a cannon 
ball. That is why the poet compares them with the cannon ball. (iii) Give a short character-sketch of Ozymandias. Ozymandias was a mighty king of his time. He established
 his unchallenged rule in the regime. He was known for his authority, 
wealth, pomp and show. He was a cruel ruler. He treated his masses with
 sheer contempt land ridicule. This mighty king who once ruled the world met the same fate as other humans do. (iv) What does the title of the poem “The Hollow Men” suggests? The title of the poem “The Hollow Men” suggests ' Tthat modern man is not leading a natural life. He is shallow and superficial. (v) Who was Abraham? What was his faith? Ans: Abraham- (Peace be upon him) Is one of the few prophets
 mentioned In the Holy Quran. He preached the message of Allah among 
Arab because he had firm faith upon Allah Almighty. He was thrown in 
fire but he was saved by his faith and the fire turned into garden. (vi) What is the effect of death of Bullah Shah’s friend  on him? Ans: The
 death of a friend in neighbourhood terrifies the poet. The poet wonders 
what to do in facing such a shocking reality. Suddenly, he thinks of a 
big idea. He believes that love of God is a great blessing. Those who
