If you are a Pakistani living abroad, you surely will agree with me that there is no celebration as wonderful as a wedding in Pakistan. For the visitors who want to experience an unforgettable wedding, Pakistan is the place for you. Why it is said so? It is because of this long, colourful and tradition filled celebration.
As it has been mentioned, we are talking here of four colourful and happy days and here they are. This will give you an idea of how wonderful Pakistan is especially in wedding tradition.
Day 1, this is called Mayoon. Yellow colour symbolized Mayoon or Upton, another Pakistani term for the first day of the wedding celebration in Pakistan. Please do not get lost; there are numerous languages in Pakistan.
You may, therefore, expect another term for this day in another region. From the Mayoon, the bride and the groom will never see each other until the wedding ceremony.
The celebration in this day is double because the bride celebrates with her friends and family all wearing yellow in her place.
On the other hand, the groom celebrates with his friends and family in his own place. Again, visitors and celebrants all wear yellow. And believe that yellow may be the only colour but Pakistani designers will surely design your clothes to perfection. The other feature is Mehndi.
In this rite, the merriment involves dancing and singing throughout the celebration. This is another important day of celebration where dances and singing take place. What is the difference? Today is the henna day where the bride and the groom are tattooed with intricate designs in their hands and feet
Again, they are separate but the celebration is  interconnected  because today is also the day where the eeir yellow. And believe that yellow may be the uniy colour but Pakistani designers will surely design your clothes to perfection.
The other feature is Mehndi. In this rite, the merriment involves dancing and singing throughout the celebration. This is another important day of celebration where dances and singing take place. What is the difference? Today is the henna day where the bride and the groom are tattooed with intricate designs in their hands and feet.
Again, they are separate but the celebration is interconnected because today is also the day where the groom’s family delivers the wedding gown. The bride’s family will also deliver the groom’s wedding attire.
Next comes Shadi and Nikah. On this day of the ceremony (Shadi) the paperwork is formalized and the wedding is signed. Red is the colour of this day and sumptuous dinner is served by the bride's family. The red gown of the bride is designed to commemorate the importance of this celebration. Her veil and her jewellery will never be far from the elegance and intricate design of her gown.
Next celebration is Walima. This is the fourth and final day of the celebration. The groom’s family invites the wedding guests in their home. This is being hosted by the newly weds.
The couple will also mingle together with all the guests throughout the dinner. Wedding in Pakistan may vary but it will always involve colourful expressions and traditional celebrations that involve dancing and signing.
Even tourists may experience such wonderful wedding in Pakistan. Of course, you need to be ready for four long days of celebration. This wedding is unforgettable, believe me I have seen it and surely it will captivate your heart.
