Shaheed e milat -Liaqat Ali khan
Q: How were we, according to Liaquat Ali Khan, justified! in our demand for Pakistan?
In
1950, Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister B Pakistan went to the
U.S.A to introduce Pakistan. During his visit, he made many speeches.
“Pakistan arid the Modem! World” is the test of one of such speeches.
Here he explains] the nature-of the Muslim struggle for a separate
homeland. He compares this struggle with America’s War. of
Independence.] He stresses upon the .fact that Pakistan is a new
democracy and its people have unflinching faith in the supremacy of God.
They have a firm belief in liberty, fraternity and peaceful
coexistence of all the peoples of the world.
In this speech,
Liaquat Ali Khan tells the Americana)that] the creation of Pakistan was
very necessary for peace in Asia. 1 He explains the causes that led to
the creation of Pakistan. First, the Hindus and the Muslims were
different in everything J Their religious, economic and social outlooks
were different. Their heroes, cultures, history and literature were
different. Sol these two nations could not live together. Secondly, in
India,j there lived 100 million Muslims and 300 million Hindus.
The! Muslims did not want to. live as a minority in India. Their economic position would grow even worse. To them, freedom! from the British rule would have not been freedom but merely a change of masters. Lastly, India was very vast. It could hot be; controlled by one government.
This
Sub-continent was vast enough for two large countries. The Muslims were
numerous enough to constitute a nation. So under these circumstances! the
Muslims demanded a separate homeland for them. On human and
geo-political grounds, this was a very reasonable demand of millions of
Muslims.
Then Liaquat Ali Khan 'explains that the creation of
Pakistan is still more important for the modern world. First, if
Pakistan had not been established, Asia would have become 'a danger
zone. This would have been a great problem for the modern world. So
Pakistan brought peace in Asia.
Secondly, in Asia, many countries, are backward. There are weak l democracies. Among them, Pakistan stands -unified. The Pakistanis
are very brave and hardworking people. They Can do much for the
progress of these countries. Thirdly, Asia forms a major part of the
world; Unfortunately, this, major part is
backward. For the
sake of World peace, Asia must be made stronger, the Western countries
should' share their knowledge _and. experience With the developing
nations.. This can be done properly through Pakistan.
