How far would you agree that "The Duchess and the Jeweller" depicts the moral decadence of the nobility?

Ans: it is the story of a Duchess and a jeweller. The name of jeweller is Oliver Bacon while she is the Duchess of the Duke of Lamboume. Oliver Bacon is representing the common class while Duchess is representing the aristocratic class of the English society. Oliver Bacon has risen from a very low level to the place of a great jewler of not only  England but the whole world. The past of Oliver Bacon is not good as he has been selling stolen dogs But Duchess belongs to elite class.

Bacon is a bachelor and loves the daughter of Duchess Diana Other wants to buy honour by force of money whereas the Duchess wants to maintain the honour of her family by selling  her family jewels and pearls even the fake as the real ones
The duchess knows that Oliver likes her daughter Diana. She invites Oliver to her house and tells him that Diana will be there and he will be able to go with her.In fact, sheis there to set him a fake pearl as the real one and wants to divert his attention. She does not want him to judge me fake pearl so she gets twenty thousand pounds from the jeweller.  the elite class was becoming weak economically and facing moral  decadence While the lower class was becoming rich and wants to get the honour like elite class of society.
