Q: What do you think about the qualities of a good host?

Max Beerbohm says in his essay that people are either hosts or guests by temperament. Those who like to offer meal to others are hosts and those who like to enjoy the meal without
paying the bill are guests.

The writer says that the behaviour of these two categories of human beings is different' from each other. According to Beerbohm, the virtue of hospitality lies between miserliness and affectation. A miser does not spend  any money oh his friends and relatives. The character of Corin’s master in Shakespeare’s play is one such example.

On the other end of hospitality is the person, who is proud and wants to A show his wealth. His object is to impress the others and win admiration. The Roman general, Lucullus was fine example.
However, a good host stands between the two extremes. He is generous at heart, arid levies human beings. He welcomes‘and entertains friends and strangers alike at his dining table. He is not proud and egoist. He does riot try to impress others by the hospitality? But he* finds it, hid pleasant duty to lead the conversation.
