Q: How does the poet take us into the realm of  imagination in the poem "Tartary"?

Ans:
The poet takes the readers to the world of imagination successfully. He creates a pen-picture of a beautiful imaginary world. The success of the art of the poet is clear when we hear the sounds created by the words of the poet.
There are three ways the poet takes us into the world of imagination:
1. He paints the pen-pictures of an imaginary world.
2. He uses simile, personification and metaphor.
3. He can call up a picture by using a single illuminating word or phrase.
In the poem, Tartary, all the scenes of the imaginary and *? romantic land of Tartary are full of images. The most fanciful and effective image is presented in its stanza no. [3].

Wherein the poet imagines himself the single lord of Tartary sitting in a carriage, drawn by seven zebras' through the dark places in the forest of Tartary. A colour scheme least drawn by other poets besides he has put on a long and very grand outer dress on which beads are fixed very close to one another. The entire scene as presented in this stanza flashes across the screen of our mind time and again and we feel like being enchanted.
Thus the image of the land of Tartary as presented in this stanza is being fantastic of utmost significance.
