Q: What Does the title of the novel "The Old Man And sea" suggests?

Ans:
The Old Man And The Sea was published in 1952 which is the last novel of Hemingway. This novel won the Nobel Prize in 1954. The title of the novel suggests that this world is just like sea and we are like fishermen who are bound to struggle no matter the result is success or failure.
Hemingway has given a very powerful message in the novel that man can be crushed but not defeated. Success or failure do not matter rather it is the struggle which matters. The sea offers a lot of things to some fishermen even if they do not have to struggle hard but to some fishermen the sea is not kind.
Many times in our life we face failure like the hero of this novel, Santiago. But we have to struggle and proceed on and on and we should not care for the results. The honest and constant struggle has importance which must be cared. When we are in a trouble our near ones and dear ones cannot do anything.
Manolin left Santiago when he needed him badly. Santiago struggled hard and caught Marlin but the sharks deprived Santiago of his hard-earned fish. Santiago does not lose his heart and at the end of the novel we see him positive, excited and hopeful for his success in fishing.
The title of the novel make us believe that we must consider ourselves like a fisherman who is alone in the sea. Constant struggle must be our motto no matter the result is success or failure.
