Decline of Pakistani Film Industry
Outline:1. Pre-Partition Film Industry.
2. Start of Pakistani Film Industry
3. Reasons of the fall of Pakistani Film Industry.
4. Conclusion
When Pakistan came into being all the film industry had its establishments in the Indian city of Bombay. All the actors, producers, poets, singers and musicians were settled in Bombay. The Muslims had to come to Pakistan but a lot of Muslim actors and Musicians remained in India.
Now those came to Pakistan had to establish a new film industry in Pakistan. They chose Lahore for the purpose. It was the start of our film industry. Later on Karachi became the second centre of films. In the beginning of film industry only Urdu and Punjabi movies were made. With the passage of time, Pushto and Sindhi movies were also made. In 1960, Pakistani film industry started its journey towards the peak. Remarkable films were made and did a good business on the box office.
With the profit of this boom in the business, new studios were made in Lahore. It was an era when black and white films were made but then the era of colour movies started and people liked it very much. Cinema scope movies were also made in India and later on in Pakistan.
But the Journey of film industry made a rapid progress in India. The reasons are evident. Indian culture allows the people to watch movies freely. While Pakistani culture did not allow the people to watch movies freely due to religious factors. India Is a large country and there are thousands of cinemas while Pakistan Is a small country where a few dozen cinemas were there.
Now the situation of Indian Industry is very good. The Indian producers are working with Hollywood stars and making movies of mega budget. The Indian actors are being casted in Hollywood movies. It has been estimated that India Is making more than seven hundred movies annually because of its large circuit.
But situation of Pakistani cinema has become pathetic For more than a decade, we have been witnessing a downfall In Pakistani film industry. There are very few cinemas left in Pakistan.
The reason of this downfall Is Indian movies and cable network. Every new Indian and Hollywood movie Is available on cable network and on CD’s. The people prefer to watch Indian movies while the educated class prefers English movies. The reason of decline of Pakistani film Industry is not single.
1. Our writers are not writing the stories which have modem content.
2. There is a lack of advanced technology.
3. Shortage of cinemas.
4. import of Indian movies.
5. Uneducated viewerS
6. Absence of film training Institutes.
7-Presence of uneducated producers, writers and actors.
If we solve the above mentioned problems, we can expect a boom In our film industry.
