Describe the scene of eclipse in the essay “The Eclipse”.

Ans: The phenomenon of the solar eclipse was to take place on a certain day in June. Early in the morning, the sky was overcast, the earth was covered with snow and the atmosphere was damp and cold. Soon the sun appeared. Its rays began to spread through clouds in the sky and the snow on the earth. Everything began to brighten up.

 There was a riot of colours everywhere, but this did not last long. After sometime, the atmosphere began to darken. It appeared as if the sun was trying, to hide itself behind the clouds. For a little while, the brightness was indeed, visible. But in the twinkling of an eye, it was no more, the sun appeared just like a crescent. 

The eclipse had started.
During the eclipse, the nature was deprived of all its colours. Everything blue, green, purple or pink just turned into dark grey. This sudden transformation of nature sent shivers down the spines of people who had turned up in large numbers to watch the rare phenomenon. There is no light; it is just the end of the worlds they thought.
Soon the atmosphere began to brighten up. The sun had begun to rise arid appear on the other side of the world. Everything was regaining its natural glory and brilliance. At first, the colours, were "light and dim, giving the false impression that the earth hadSpeiffepg; Jost its brightness forever. But slowly, gradually and steedily4ne colours began to regain their naturat glory.
Everything, like hills, trees, streams, farmhouses, villages, railway lines, etc began to lake shape and the normal civilized kfe returned The experience of the eclipse taught the author that life without colour is like standing on a dead leaf.
