Ans: The snake comes to the poet’s water-trough and as . such it is a guest Killing a guest is an abominable thing. Moreover, the snake with its beautiful colours and impressive behaviour, is a thing of beauty that must be praised, not killed. The guests should be served, and beautiful things should be enjoyed. The poet follows the voice of reason and attacks the snake. But he soon regrets his mean and vulgar act.
The poet has feelings of regret. He suffers from a sense of guilt and despises him. He thinks he should have 1 treated the snake as a fellow creature.
