The New Constitution, Indian Act, 1935 with which people of India had ‘ associated great hopes, was a milestone in the struggle for complete independence. The main character, Ustad Mangu — the tongaWj misunderstood new constitution for Indians and thought it would bring independence.
Ustand Mangu was conside a wise man among his group. He had great expectations I for the welfare of the Indian. He took the New Constitution as a saviour of common man of India. He thought that everything would change by its implementation^ Indian would get their right and there would be. no more exploitation. People of India would get prosperity justice and peace.
He had firm belief in the goodness of Indian Act, 1935. Ustad Mangu was anxious to see something surprising and extraordinary after the introduction df the new constitution. He was also expecting that the soci condition of the people would also change providing relief to the people. The unemployed young bachelors would get jobs. That’s why, he was so excited;for the implementation of the new constitution.
