Q: How does the poem, “Patriot into Traitor educate us about the political conditions prevailing in the Third World countries?
Ans: This is a very thought-provoking poem written by Robert Browning, He witnessed many revolutions during his journeys throughout the world. In this poem, he has painted the very gloomy picture of an unfortunate hen which has been branded as a traitor. This poem is a littel criticism on power worship.
He was a hero of yesterday but now he is considered a traitor. As for the situation of the Third World countries is concerned, the writer has aptly drawn the picture of such a political leader. People welcome their candidates warmly and shower the petals over them but after passing some time, they are fed up with the political leaders.
Actually, the poverty is main factor in the Third World countries which is responsible for such events. We find many examples in this regard in many Third World countries. Pakistan and India are the best examples in this concern. Many political leaders have been welcomed very warmly but after that they have been accused for having treason with the country. It is not considered the name of such leaders for some reasons but everybody knows well about them.
